These differences are due to the game not just being Supermassive’s like all the rest it was funded by megacorp Sony to help get then-tiny company SG off the ground. Oh and a dif celeb plays a ‘mysterious creepy presenter/interferer’ role like The Curator, but is not historical Death himself or connected to the whole premonitions mechanic or O’Death theme. So no ‘shared cast models’ or ‘shared universe’ references to other games. The main differences are there’s more walking and slightly more areas and secrets to find, and a couple more of the stereotypical characters are playable and all entirely ink-suit celebrities like the star of each DPA and old crime game Hidden Agenda(6/10 reception). It’s basically the same style of game in terms of graphics, branching paths and deaths(gory even animals and better variety than Hope like HOA, but less varied and more plot armor than Medan), music(slightly different soundtrack to DPA but cover of same main O’Death theme), spookiness and jump scares, and cheesy yet emotional writing style.
